Small Changes That Would Make Me Want a Type-R
- option to remove red
striping on wheels
-
option to remove red striping on lip/
skirts/diffuser
- option to have no red leather on steering wheel
- option of a smaller wing (or delete)
Despite all of these wants, maybe I’ll still own
one some day. Seems like it’s just that good.
Signed, future 45-year-old boy racer

Some of that red striping is just vinyl if I’m remember correctly.

The wing makes it the best...otherwise it looks like a hatchback spodt

Resident 21 year old here.
Those make a Type-R cooler.

That colored trim thing is definitely a trend. We’ll see how it stands up over time but it’s all over the place .
I assumed this is why the Mopar guys keep those edge guards on their cars.
I personally like the crazy of the Type-R. It wouldn’t be boy- racer enough without all that stuff.

Just do what all of the other old people do and buy a Golf R.

The wheels make it so much worse. Most of the issues are gone when those are replaced. One of the remaining issues is the cooling, because it needed more actual grill than it has.

I just want the performance without all the shoutyness.

But it’s fun

I could live with the wing... maybe.

Well, that’s good. Probably not on the wheels, though.
But I’d want to paint them silver or gunmetal anyway.

But I’m old . I want to have my fun without people noticing.

They should just do a sleeper package. Give you all the trimmings of a Turbo Touring, but Type-R guts.
C’mon Honda, this is a page right out of Porsche’s playbook.

You’re forgetting the seats, way too tight for a daily driver ... I’d take the Civic Si seats instead.
Wheels could go down an inch or two as well.

I too am not a fan of the red on the steering wheel.

I think the Si wing is a good compromise.

You want to delete all the red? But JDM brah! That red adds at least 20 hp.
I’m personally OK with it but it’d be nice if we had more freedom to spec the exterior with all cars rather than having to move up/down whole trim levels or packages.
I’m partial to the i30N in that light blue with the red accent on the front bumper lip.

I'm with you. It's just way too boy-racer for me. Put that drivetrain in the Insight or ILX body and now we're talking.

Changes that would make me want a Type-R:
None...I’d just trade it for a Nogaro Blue Golf R.

Big changes that would make me want a 2019 Type R.
Redesigning the whole car so it’ll have 17” wheels instead of freaking TWENTIES, make it not a 4 door. Make it not hideous in every way.

agree - wing delete and a smaller factory wheel option. (And has that motor started to get some of the same issues as the 1.6?)

I don’t get the current black out with red striping craze all the manufacturers are doing
